wandering

the best days in NYC are spent aimlessly wandering the streets, seeking out little shops.
street performer in Soho, jamming out the Hendrix
a DIVINE antiques shop, Paula Rubenstein Inc, located at 65 Prince St
our new friend at Unis, an uber cool men's shop at 226 Elizabeth St and his new yellow Common Project shoes

we need some FALL up in here!

so i acquired this GRAND quilted bubble ball skirt at the Chelsea flea market last week and it's still too scorching to wear it. i wanted to pretend though, because i have zero patience and simply can't wait to make an outfit with it! so it's 90 degrees out and i make Mitch take my photo after making an oh-so-French ensemble with it! LOVE! his hat from Target, skirt by Ivan Grundahl (a Danish designer), and a vintage Helmut Lang shirt (also Mitch's)
worn with my white chain necklace from Tova and snake sandals from Cynthia Vincent
Mitch was finally coerced into making an outfit despite the heat (which he can't STAND) and wore his vintage Neiman Marcus cabana shirt and shorts. i love this shirt, it reminds me of the Seinfeld where Kramer & George sold George's father's cabana clothes to the reseller. HA!
"where are my CABANA clothes???!!!"
genius.

Fifth Avenue?

not normally a bastion of style...more like a suburban mall. yet just LOOK at the wondrous style mongers i found yesterday!
1st up: cutest couple award. this kooky couple are transplants to CA from the big apple. i say Cally has done them well! his stripe mixing is sublime!
my next girl had that drapey thing i dream about going on and ultra chic grey platforms. she does PR for a great new charity called Share Your Lunch. check out their site:

it's raining men?

i don't know what's going on...i keep looking for women, but i keep finding well-dressed men! maybe it's subconscious to keep Mitch happy since the sartorialist is posting less men lately. i don't know. but it's so nice to see a chic man!
i was going to crop this shot but loved the nut job with leg tattoos walking by.

on my way to work...

met Mitch since he'll be gone most of the next month and i'm more than a little devastated....
he is wearing Banana Republic shorts that were revved up by the seamstress and a great Target collaboration vest. Prada loafers on sale at Barneys...his favorite find to date!
i have on his Helmet Lang vintage jeans, Lily McNeal silk sweater that is divine in the summer, Rogan for Target tank and Rapz gold chain necklace.
gold Loeffler Randall shoes, now about 4 years old and still to-die-for.
we had breakfast at a cute French bakery and Mitch's tea was so pretty. too bad it wasn't a Mojito!
later that day, i saw these shoemakers in the window of Henri Bendel. i love to see fashion in action!
lastly this stylish guy caught my eye. i love a light shoe to punctuate an outfit. these colors all just work so well together, yet nothing "matches." wondrous!

COLOR!

yes! after some cloudy days in the big apple, the manhattanites broke out the color!
Club Monaco orange pants on a natty bloke and a fab turquoise necklace paired with preppy neutrals on a damsel (clearly NOT in distress!)
love them!

Club Monaco

my new job is keeping me busy. too busy to post...but i can't use that excuse so here i go, up on my roof on a cloudy day to shoot myself. (with my camera, that is)
the Club has something for everyone, that's what is so fascinating about it. the customer base is somewhat conservative but the chicest girl came in yesterday trying on hats. i am SURE she works for a magazine, i could just tell! if you dig and have a creative mind, you can utilize some of the business type pieces and make them very funky indeed. take these menswear pants (which have a phenomenal fit!) paired with a Rozae Nichols 2-piece corset top and my Omelle shoes. add a chunky snake cuff and a big ass necklace and there you have it! de-conservatizate! yes i made that up, but i'm an English major and i'm allowed. spell check didn't even redline that one...hmmm. maybe someone really made it a word...some who shops at Club Monaco!

date with Mitch

we met for happy hour at VNYL. wondrous! they serve frozen Cosmos! what a dream. our bartender was a delightful ginger named Marilyn, and next to us was a composer named Benjamin. he looked like an actor, not anyone in particular but just an actor in general...i didn't catch the other bartenders name but i took a shot just cuz.
the lovely rainbow windows. leftover from gay pride perhaps? VNYL is in Chelsea, after all.
they have a Justin Timberlake bathroom. there is a life size mosaic of him on the wall, his star on the door, and non stop playing of his music inside, regardless of what is playing in the restaurant. love a theme!
cutest bulldog puppy EVER. white head and brindl body.
Mitch found his dream vintage book in the basement of Paul Smith.
a girl with divine snakeskin / neon yellow flats.
delish day!

Alexander McSkull still inspiring from the grave

this Givenchy jacket....fab!
still loving great skulls and bones.
NOT ed hardy style...NOT hot topic...
but stylish wondrous macabre skulls & bones. done right, it's a great
forever look, not just a trend.
